BP issues note on rights

BP has made a consolidated statement of its position and policies on human rights in a new guidance note, written for staff but publicised more widely. The note states BP's understanding of how international human rights law and the concept of complicity in human rights abuses applies to business. It also gives guidance to project managers on three areas of human rights concern: employees, communities and security.

Responsible tourism

The International Business Leaders Forum's Tourism Partnership and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation have launched a programme to develop a framework to help the tourism industry address human rights within their operations. The Tourism and Human Rights Initiative will use the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism as the standard to guide the global activities of the project. It will also develop and adopt a specific set of human rights principles for the industry with appendices for individual sectors.
