Specification  This position would suit an individual ideally with corporate CA experience and strong organisational and interpersonal
skills who is able to react positively to change and effectively develop and implement new strategies.

There is a strong team ethos within the Community Affairs (CA) team, therefore the incumbent will be expected to
work with other team members to ensure delivery of professional service. This will entail sharing and/or taking
responsibility for a wide range of Employee Volunteering tasks and projects including:

Employee Volunteering Strategy:
Building on the existing culture of volunteer engagement within UBS to increase levels of participation
Developing and implementing a revised, structured action plan for the recruitment and co-ordination of
volunteering schemes for employees in the UK (c6,000)

Working with the team to streamline front to back Employee Volunteering management process
Communications:
Building relationships and sharing best practice within the firm
Identifying and developing opportunities to work in partnership with stakeholders
Creating professional CA publicity materials (brochure, posters, e-communications, weekly and quarterly
bulletins) to promote Bridge Academy and other volunteering opportunities
Ongoing review and updating of the CA intranet
Assisting with the management of internal Employee Volunteering awards programme
Relationship management
Working with individuals, teams, and departments within the firm to advise on volunteer opportunities
Supporting CA Champions to help achieve identified departmental volunteer targets
Advising, presenting to and persuading business areas of the benefits of Employee Volunteering
Collaborating with departments and CA Champions and proposing innovative solutions to Employee
Volunteering obstacles
Working with Bridge Academy staff to develop and deliver volunteer opportunities in line with the
Academy’s work related learning programme.
Project administration
Administration of volunteer projects at and on behalf of the Bridge Academy
Sourcing and analysing volunteering opportunities
Managing volunteer projects with/through partner charities and community brokers
Supporting CA Champions and other employees in creating and delivering projects
Managing the recruiting and briefing of volunteers
Ensuring all necessary due diligence has been undertaken
Monitoring the Employee Volunteering approval process
Updating, monitoring and generating reports from the Employee Volunteering database
Preparing internal and external Employee Volunteering related marketing and communications

Person Profile

Competencies and Attributes required
Experience of community affairs and communications from within the private sector
Clear understanding of social issues and the business rationale behind corporate community involvement
Understanding and experience of wider corporate responsibility issues (desirable)
Experience of organising employee volunteering programmes and/or of managing and motivating
volunteer activity particularly within the private sector
Experience of liaising with voluntary organisations and schools (desirable)
Experience of working in financial services (desirable)
Strong focus on delivering agreed outcomes and objectives, meeting budgets and team expectations
with a clear understanding of the importance of stakeholder expectations and risk mitigation
Ability to work on multiple projects, set and meet challenging deadlines in a demanding environment
Ability to turn work around quickly with a ‘can do’ attitude
Strong project management skills
Effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
Good interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to deal confidently with a wide range of
backgrounds (e.g. senior management, Hackney teenagers, local government, charitable partners, etc.)
