Ethical Sourcing in the Global Food System

With the globalisation of food ringing alarm bells for consumers, two market-led forms of regulation have emerged: the growing niche market of Fairtrade, and ethical sourcing schemes covering mainstream products. These papers assess the problems and prospects of both, with contributions from the Co-op, Oxfam, and top academics. Making sure farmers aren't inundated by competing systems, and ensuring codes of conduct reach the most insecure workers (like migrants and smallholders), is a tall order. Less practical than some would like, the book nonetheless pushes the debate forward.
